AN HISTORIC TOWER
The "Torre degli Annibaldi" is located on the slopes of Fagutale Hill, among the monuments in the centre of Rome. It was built between 1200 and 1204 A.D. with the stones taken from Emperor Nerone‘s Domus Aurea and from the Titus Baths. During construction members of an opposing family, the Frangipane’s, attacked with arrow and spears, shot and hurled from the nearby Coliseum. The purpose of the Tower was to be a defensive fortification for Piero Annibaldi, the brother in-law of Pope Innocent III.

Legend tell us that Saint Francis of Assisi stayed here while waiting to be received by the Pontiff.

the Tower now privately owned is in one of the city’s most privileged and exclusive locations, in the heart of ancient Rome, with the beautiful Piazza S.Pietro in Vincoli on one side and the Coliseum on the other.

ACCOMODATION
The entrance is composed by a gallery filled with beautiful ancient paintings and from here you enter the winter garden in which the tower itself is set.

GROUND FLOOR: Living Room with dining room, original 14th century fireplace, dining table for 8 people, 18th century chairs, small bathroom, big winding staircase.

FIRST FLOOR: Very large bedroom, with large windows from which you have a wonderful view of the city, 17th century commode, fireplace with sofa, bathroom.

TERRACE: You will arrive at the terrace up a winding staircase. From here you will have a beautiful view of the Coliseum and of the Roman excavations.

The terrace is furnished with settees, chairs, surrounded by plants and flowers.

The tower is elegant but at the same time very comfortable.

The owner is a "Commandeur des Cordons Bleus de France". She personally oversees the preparation of meals and can offer her guests a sophisticated choice of menus of superb Italian and International cuisine in a highly refined atmosphere. Special cooking lessons can also be organized.

Staff is composed of a housekeeper who takes care of the house and who is able to help with tickets and reservations for guests.
